Plan for the real day
What to bring and what to expect.
Dress for sun, splash and a little walking. Quick-dry layers, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and secure shoes make the day more comfortable. Bring water and any personal medication you may need. A dry change of clothes is smart for the drive back to Page.
The route includes approximately five miles of paddling round trip and a 1.5-mile hike. Guests should be comfortable sitting in a kayak for several hours, paddling at a steady pace and walking on uneven natural terrain. You do not need prior experience, but you should come ready to participate.
Leave room around the tour rather than trying to stack another demanding activity immediately before or after it. A relaxed breakfast, an unhurried drive to Antelope Point and time to freshen up after the lake make the day feel far better than rushing between reservations. Page has plenty to do, but the paddle-and-hike is best treated as the main event for that part of your trip.
For a smoother morning, keep your phone charged, bring the reservation details with you and give yourself extra time for the drive and launch area. Small practical choices like those make it easier to arrive settled, listen to the briefing and enjoy the first stretch of water instead of catching up to the group.
Conditions guide the final call. Wind, weather and changing water levels can affect the plan, especially the hiking portion. When the lake or weather is not right for a safe trip, High Desert Paddle Co. will adjust, reschedule or cancel rather than force the day.
